A green card allows one to live and work permanently in the United States. This identification card allows you to enter and exit our country, study, work, and live without the time limits of a temporary visa. It also provides the final step on the path towards achieving full U.S. citizenship through the naturalization process. Green Card through Family

- Example – A person who was granted asylum because she established that she previously suffered persecution in her home country due to her political opinion and has physically remained in the U.S. for 1 year after being granted asylee/refugee status.
- Example – A person who was granted U-visa because he suffered mental and physical abuse as a result of having been a victim of an assault and was helpful to law enforcement in the investigation of the crime and has physically remained in the U.S. for 3 years after being granted U-visa status
- Example – A person who was abused by her U.S. citizen spouse
